How it works
Pick your turns
2 = strong opener (most letters locked in). 6 = soft nudge (you get the letters, not the positions).
Type our hint into Wordle
Use it as one of your guesses. The colored tiles match what Wordle will show you.
Solve from the clues
You still figure out the answer — we just hand you the right opening move.
Frequently asked
Quick answers to what people usually ask before they trust a hint.
How is this different from just being told the answer?
We hand you a starting word that, when you type it into Wordle, lights up exactly enough letters to deduce the answer in the number of guesses you chose. You still solve the puzzle — we just hand you the right opening move.
Is this cheating?
Pick your own definition. Most people use it on the days they're stuck and would otherwise give up; the streak survives, the brain still does the work.
Where do you get the daily answer?
From the New York Times' own public Wordle JSON endpoint, fetched once per day server-side. We don't crawl other helper sites.
Why does the same hint sometimes appear for two different turn counts?
Some answers have very few near-neighbors in the English dictionary — words with double letters and unusual letter combinations are the usual culprits. When the algorithm can't find a distinct word for, say, three turns vs four, it returns the closest available match for both.
